Freshmen’s Trip 2025

Registration is open for all HHU students!

The “Erstifahrt 2025” will take us from December 12 to December 14 to the Gästehaus Auszeit Eifel in Gemünd Schleiden. As in previous years, you will have the opportunity to get to know each other better. The registration process is as follows:

  1. Anyone who wants to join must first pre-register online (link at the top). [Registration possible from WEDNESDAY, 15.10. at 12:00 p.m.]
  2. If spots are still available, you must go to a PhyNIx student council of your choice within 3 days to confirm your registration. You will need to bring your ID (not your student ID) to verify your age, and proof of enrollment (with your major and semester, available from the student portal, digital copies are acceptable) to prove you are indeed a first-year student.
  3. This can be done starting Thursday, 16.10. at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Physics student council.
  4. You will then receive payment instructions, which you must complete within 7 days. If you miss any of the deadlines, your registration will be canceled, and someone else can take your spot.
  5. If the spots are already full when you pre-register, you will be placed on the waiting list. If enough people miss their deadlines, you will move up to the registration list and must follow steps 2 and 3.

A few notes:

  • In previous years, the portal has crashed on the day of registration, so it’s best to download your proof of enrollment beforehand.
  • First-year students will be given priority in the registration! If there are any spots left, they will later be offered to students in higher semesters. Registration for higher semesters will start later in the student councils. Registration for students in higher semesters and other subjects will be open from Monday, 03.11 at 12:00 PM. Any earlier registrations will not be taken into account.
  • The online pre-registration does not guarantee you a spot! Only after you have paid will your spot be secured.

The tickets are personalized and non-transferable. If you get sick or cannot attend for other reasons, please inform us via email as soon as possible, and we will try to find a way to refund you. (“I just don’t feel like it” is not a valid reason.)

The trip costs €40.84 per person, which includes two nights’ accommodation, transportation to and from the venue, meals, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There will be a small program of activities, but you will also have plenty of free time to do as you wish [with some limitations]. Voluntary activities will be offered (e.g., day hikes, night hikes, large games of Werewolf, etc.).

Unfortunately, only people over 18 years of age (at the start of the trip) can participate in the “Erstifahrt.”

Further details:

  • Departure: Friday, December 12 at 3:30 p.m., meeting point: at the lawn between ZIM and Physics at 4:00 p.m.
  • Return: Sunday, December 14, around 12:00 p.m., back at the university
  • Travel time: approximately 1.5 hours (depending on traffic, as it’s a Friday afternoon)
  • Address of the guesthouse: Auf der Batterie 9, 53937 Schleiden
  • The house is not barrier-free
  • There are 113 spots available, but there are more of you!
  • First come, first serve (for registration)

What to expect:

  • Lots of friendly people
  • Tons of fun
  • Board games, activities, music
  • Karaoke
  • Good food and midnight snacks
  • The following drinks:
    • Cola, Fanta, water
    • Coffee, milk, cocoa, tea for breakfast
    • Regular beer (Alt and Pils) and non-alcoholic beer

Things you must bring (required by the guesthouse):

  • Bed linen/pillowcase, bed sheet, and towels – anyone sleeping without bed linen and bed sheet will be charged a cleaning fee afterward!

Things you should bring (recommended by participants from previous years):

  • Clothing appropriate for the weather (there will be a night hike for those who enjoy that)
  • Toiletries
  • Appropriate shoes (you will have to walk a short distance to the venue)
  • A towel – you should always have a towel with you!
  • Board games you’d like to play

Things you should avoid bringing (recommended by participants from previous years):

  • Valuables like laptops, expensive phones, etc. (losing them is annoying and they won’t be replaced)
  • A lot of cash (it’s unnecessary, as everything is provided for you)
  • Anything that could ruin the fun for yourself or others

Things you are not allowed to bring (decided by someone who can make that decision):

  • Anything illegal under current law (including various illegal drugs)
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks

Anyone violating these rules will unfortunately have to leave.
